Lung function testing is done using a spirometer in the CSOHD. This testing is available at the discretion of the doctor or nurse you are attending.
It evaluates the functional capacity of the lungs, measures how much air the lungs can hold, the length of time it takes for air movement in and out of the lungs, and how well the lungs add oxygen to the blood and remove carbon dioxide from the blood.
The test can help diagnose some lung diseases and measure the severity of lung problems that prevent normal breathing.
